Diesel prices are breaking records. It’s never been this bad before
Ten days after the abolition of the CPN package, fuel prices in Poland are rising. Refueling diesel has never cost as much as it does today.
Today marks ten days since the abolition of the Lower Fuel Prices (CPN) package. Back 23 percent VAT rates on fuels (the package assumed a reduction to 8%) immediately translated into an increase in prices at gas stations.
Record-breakingly expensive diesel
The situation when it comes to diesel prices is dramatic. E-petrol analysts indicate that refueling diesel at Polish stations has never cost as much as it does now.
The latest price report prepared by e-petrol.pl shows that after the 36-cent increase, a liter of diesel oil costs on average PLN 8.75. This is the highest price of this fuel in the history of e-petrol.pl quotations.
The price of 95-octane petrol has also increased significantly, costing on average PLN 7.89/l, which is 26 cents more than a week ago. After continuous declines since the end of April, the price of autogas has also increased (it was not included in the package). Its average nationwide price increased by 6 groszy, to PLN 2.95/l.
Fuel prices in Poland. Where is the most expensive?
Experts explain that the unfavorable price situation at gas stations for drivers results both from the systematic increase in oil prices, which has been going on since the end of August, and from significant increases in wholesale fuel prices. In the case of LPG, higher fueling bills are related to the significantly more expensive supplies of this fuel to stations.
Where do drivers pay the most for fuel? Data provided by e-petrol show that the most expensive prices are in Lower Silesia, Podkarpacie and the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, where Pb95 petrol costs PLN 7.90/l. Diesel with a price of PLN 8.77/l is the most expensive in Masovia.
It is cheapest in Podlasie, where the average prices of “95” and diesel oil are PLN 7.82 and PLN 8.67, respectively.
Fuel is becoming more expensive, but as the Minister of Energy Miłosz Motyka assures, there is no danger of exceeding the level of PLN 10/l. – There is no such analysis today. And analysts don’t predict it either. How the crisis in the Middle East will develop is unknown, but there is no such threat in the near future. However, fuel prices in Poland are high – said the head of the Ministry of Energy in the “Political Triangle” program on TVP Info.
