Did you click before you thought? CyberTarcza Go will stop a dangerous link

Message about an underpayment for the shipment, a blocked bank account or the need to confirm a hotel reservation. Cybercriminals don’t always need sophisticated methods. Sometimes a moment of our inattention is enough. With this threat in mind, Orange has prepared the CyberTarcza Go application.

Messages with fake links have become one of the most common threats on the Internet. They come to us in different ways. They may look like information from a bank, courier company, store, office or a friend. Their goal is usually similar: to persuade the recipient to click on a link leading to a website prepared by fraudsters and provide data that will later be used to steal money or take over the account.

Recognizing a suspicious message seems easy, but it’s not always so. Fake websites often resemble the websites of well-known companies and institutions, and fraudsters use current events, popular services and everyday situations. We do more and more things via smartphones – we pay, shop, use banking, e-mail and instant messaging. It is on the phone that we most often open links, without always checking exactly where they lead. The security of our phone has an increasing impact not only on the protection of data, but also our money.

In 2025, Orange systems blocked 356,000. dangerous websites, protecting approximately 5.5 million network users against loss of data and money. CyberTarcza Go transfers this protection to a mobile application that verifies website addresses in real time and blocks access to those recognized as dangerous. It doesn’t matter whether the link comes from an SMS, WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, Instagram, e-mail, browser or Facebook.

Protection also outside the Orange network

CyberTarcza Go works regardless of the operator. The application can be used by both Orange customers and people with a number from another operator. It works both when using the mobile Internet – also in public places and abroad.

This is especially important when traveling. During holiday trips, we more often use foreign Wi-Fi networks, book accommodation and buy tickets using applications. More often than usual, we reach for the phone and make quick decisions. The news about a problem with the reservation, fare payment or shipment may then seem even more likely.

CyberTarcza Go works all the time. Protection does not disappear when you cross a border or when you switch from data to wireless. The application also does not require the user to manually check each address. After installation and activation, it works in the background and checks the addresses of the websites that the device is trying to connect to. It does not affect the daily use of the smartphone, you do not need to manually turn it on or remember any settings.

After clicking on a malicious link, instead of opening a dangerous page, a clear message appears that access to it has been blocked. Thanks to this, the user immediately knows that the problem is not the phone or the Internet connection, but an unsafe address. The application also offers online notifications and reports, thanks to which the user receives information about neutralized threats. This solution is especially useful for people who like to have control over what happens to their device.

Expert knowledge instead of guesswork

Link blocking is only the last stage of the entire process. For the application to respond, it must use current knowledge about dangerous sites. Its effectiveness is supported by experts from CERT Orange Polska, a team responsible for analyzing cyber threats, handling incidents and protecting the network. Orange emphasizes that this unit has been operating for 30 years and information about new threats is constantly updated. Real-time AI analysis also helps identify new threats. This is important because fake sites often appear only briefly and their addresses change very quickly.

The scale of the problem shows why such protection may not only be needed by those who are less tech-savvy. The power of modern phishing, including its SMS variant, i.e. smishing, is that fraudsters only need to hit the right moment and take advantage of haste, distraction or the natural fear of losing access to the account or money.

The assumption that phishing mainly targets older people or people who rarely use the Internet is a convenient but wrong simplification.

Lack of knowledge does not always lead to clicking on a malicious link. More often than not, the decision is made by haste, routine and a well-chosen excuse. Even an experienced user can automatically open a link in a message from a courier if he or she is actually waiting for a parcel, or one sent from a friend’s account that was previously compromised. Most of us are inundated with digital notifications every day and this also makes it difficult to maintain the appropriate level of concentration.

It is also difficult to expect that every user will keep up to date with all new fraudsters’ methods. Especially since many fake websites very well imitate the websites of banks, stores and payment operators. The address may differ from the real one by one letter, a single character or an unusual ending. On a phone screen where the address bar takes up little space, such details are easy to miss.

No complicated configuration

CyberTarcza Go is available on Android and iOS devices. Anyone can download it from Google Play or App Store, register and activate protection. Orange customers have several additional activation methods at their disposal. They can also activate the service after logging in to orange.pl, in the Additional services tab, in the My Orange application, in the “Packages and services” section → “Security”, in any Orange showroom or by sending a free SMS with the text CTGO to 80200.

The first 30 days of using the service are free. After the trial period, the price is PLN 14.99 including VAT per month. The service takes the form of a subscription, so the user is not bound by a long-term contract. If he decides that he no longer needs it, he can resign from it at any time.

One subscription allows you to protect up to three devices, so it can cover, for example, the phones of several family members or company devices. It is not a substitute for caution or two-factor authentication. It also does not exempt you from the rule not to provide data on a website opened from a random link. However, it can be an additional barrier when our vigilance fails.

Cybersecurity is often associated with complicated solutions, full of settings and technical concepts. In everyday life, the tools that are most needed are those that do not require constant involvement from the user. CyberTarcza Go works exactly like this: in the background, regardless of the operator and type of connection, and reacts when a click may lead to a dangerous website. This additional layer of protection can help us avoid losing data or money.
