Deplorable effects of a fire in a large canyon. “It’s torn off the heart”
Fires in the summer season in tourist places occur quite often. Their causes are different, but the effects are almost always deplorable. A great canyon and one of the hostels there met a difficult fate.
The Great Canyon is a cult world attraction. Almost every tourist dreams to visit him at least once in his life. Of course, we are talking about the Arizona National Park in the USA famous for spectacular views, unique tourist routes, geysers or various fauna and flora. With this area there are, among others Objects where tourists can spend the night. One of the cult was completely destroyed by a fire.
Fire in the Grand Canyon
The incident occurred last Sunday (July 13). The fire was consumed by the Grand Canyon Lodge holiday resort located at the northern end of the park. According to foreign media reports, the losses are huge. There is almost nothing left of the famous object.
According to the Associated Press agency, two fires are currently raging at the northern ends of the park – White Sage Fire and Bravo Dragon Fire. The first broke out on July 4 by a lightning strike. The latter was covered by the aforementioned holiday resort and neighboring buildings. The center for visitors, a gas station, a sewage treatment plant, an administrative building and some apartments intended for employees were also destroyed by fire.
At the moment there is no information about any victims. The northern part of the park was evacuated on Thursday due to a fire hazard.

Local services were involved to extinguish the park. Near the Grand Canyon Lodge and Transept Canyon was shot from the air from the buckets to slow down the spread of the fire. The use of a fire delayer was not possible due to chlorine leakage at the water treatment plant. This required the evacuation of firefighters from nearby critical zones.
All trails in the inner corridor of the canyon, camping fields and accompanying areas are closed until further notice. It is also known that part of the North Rim park will remain closed to all visitors until the end of the 2025 season. The destroyed accommodation was the only one on North Rim. The authorities are to claim explaining why they were allowed until such damage.
