Demolition in Iga Świątek’s match! No one expected such pictures
Iga Świątek opened the second round match of Wimbledon against Karolina Pliskova in great style. The Czech could only admire the Polish woman’s spectacular game.
On Thursday (July 2), two former WTA ranking leaders appeared on the central court in London. Karolina Pliskova, however, is more experienced than Iga Świątek. The 34-year-old Czech probably did not expect that the first part of the Wimbledon second round match would be so one-sided.
The Pole swept her opponent off the court. Świątek won very convincingly 6:1 after only 24 minutes of play.
Demolition in Iga Świątek’s match. Astonishing scenes on Center Court!
Suffice it to say that the defending champion from 2025 was already leading 4-0 after just 12 minutes. What’s more, Świątek was leading 16:1 in points scored. The Czech could only look at the other side of the net with appreciation. The Pole lost her only game in the first set due to… her own mistakes. First, two thrown attacks, then a double service fault and it was 0:40, from which it was difficult to get back.
However, if we look at the Pole’s attitude as a whole, it is truly a form worthy of recognition. 6:1 with the former leader of the world ranking, who played, among others, in the Wimbledon final, that’s impressive.
Wimbledon 2026 broadcasts can be followed on Polsat sports channels and online at Polsat Box Go. The tournament is scheduled for June 29 – July 12.
