Delays and canceled flights. Chaos at the airport in Paris

Paryż Orly

A major failure affected the Paris airport. Although at first it seemed that it would be resolved quickly, its effects are visible for the second day. Tourists must be patient.

It all started on Sunday, May 18. It was then that problems with the flight control tower at the port of Paris-Orly were reported. This is a point thanks to which pilots can start and land safely. Without him, most operations are not possible. This also happened in Paris. Chaos reigned almost immediately, and 40 percent flights were canceled. A day later, May 19, it is still not good.

If you planned a trip to Paris for today or you will return from this city to Poland, it is worth considering the difficulties in the said port. They fly there, among others Wizz Air aircraft. Foreign media reports that after one day the failure could not be fired.

The French Civil Aviation Office of DGAC turned to the airlines to reduce flight schedules by 15 percent on Monday, May 19. He also warned that delays should be expected. “The situation is improving, but still requires traffic regulation,” commented the representative of the office.

The first mentions of guilty difficult situations appeared. The office burdens the traffic control employees themselves. It was stated that radars stopped working.

It was like that on Sunday

To understand more accurately what to expect in the port of Paris-Orly, it’s worth looking at what happened there on Sunday afternoon. There were hundreds of canceled flights yesterday, and passengers had to change their plans. The problems concerned flights to Europe and North Africa and those around France. Long queues formed in terminals, and many passengers in a hurry were in search of alternative transport.

“We were on the plane and we were sitting fastened, ready to the road, when they told us to get off and pick up our luggage … and then the ordeal began,” one of the tourists recalled.

Today it can be similar. Some of the victims will try to travel, which could not be realized yesterday. It is worth watching carefully to the messages of the carrier we are flying. Lines usually inform about possible delays, etc.

Paris-Orly is the second largest airport in the French capital. Last year, about 33 million passengers were served there, i.e. about half of the number of passengers of the main international Paris-Charles de Gaulle international airport.
