– We started the energy transformation some time ago, but we are still at the beginning of this path. We still have to take many actions at various levels, we have to take care of both the development of the network and the development of individual renewable energy technologies – said Paulina Grądzik, Deputy Director of the Department of Energy and Climate Change of the Lewiatan Confederation, in an interview for Wprost.pl.

During this year’s European Forum for New Ideas, the following topics were discussed: on the green transformation in the energy sector. – We started the energy transformation some time ago, but we are still at the beginning of this path. We still need to take many actions at various levels, we need to take care of both the development of the network and the development of individual renewable energy technologies – said Paulina Grądzik, Deputy Director of the Department of Energy and Climate Change of the Lewiatan Confederation, in an interview for Wprost.pl.

Difficult decarbonization

Energy transformation is a long-term and extremely expensive process, because the transmission network also requires modernization, which is not prepared to receive energy generated by installations based on renewable sources.

– This is a very big problem because networks can only be connected if there is space for it in the system. We are doing everything we can to look for new ways to optimize the use of power grids so that new photovoltaic or wind installations can be connected – said the expert.

Faster transformation

The faster introduction of energy from renewable sources into the network is to be supported by, among others, amendment of the so-called the Wind Farm Act, which is intended to allow for more efficient construction of wind farms.

– There are many expectations, we would like, for example, quick implementation of the RED III directive, accelerated RES development zones, which will allow us to develop the energy sector even more intensively – said Paulina Grądzik.

– Changes to the Wind Farm Act are currently being processed. Although we have been waiting for this for several months, we see that there is political will on this topic and this is a change compared to what we have observed in recent years. As for the remaining issues, we are constantly submitting our comments and hope that they will be taken into account soon.
