Dead whale in Wisełka. Samples for testing were not taken because “he could explode”

On Sunday, August 10, sunbathers noticed the body of a dead whale in Wisełka in the Kamieński poviat. Experts confirmed that it was the same Waleń, which on July 25 was brought by a tanker to the LNG terminal in Świnoujście. On August 2, the Truch was towed a few miles from the shore and sunk, but apparently strong sea currents again pushed him to the shore.

The spokeswoman for the Maritime Office in Szczecin Ewa Wieczorek assured on Monday that Waleń was anchored, and on Thursday the contractor of this task improved his authorization. She reminded that this weekend a strong wind was blowing in the Baltic, creating high waves. She added that the remains of the whales were able to decay far and could simply fall apart.
On Monday, a meeting was planned with the management of the Wolin National Park, the Maritime Office, the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection and a representative of the company, which once removed a 15-meter mammal body from the port in Świnoujście. It was emphasized that the park authorities would not take care of the whale on their beach, because the tanker shipowner is still responsible for him.
For sinking the pawn to spontaneous decay in the Pomeranian Gulf, the Maritime Office had to obtain the consent of the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Szczecin. Before this happened, for a week the dead animal stayed secured in the port channel. The 12-ton whale was raised using a crane.

Unfortunately, the animal could not be used for research. The Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Szczecin Sylwia Jurzyk-Nordloew explained that it was in a far-up distribution. She reported that they were sunk east of Świnoujście, in the waters of the Pomeranian Bay, in a collision -free place, over 3 miles from the shoreline.
