The play of only tennis players is one thing. In the case of representative tournaments, it is very important to be a team that fights together, supports each other and is ready for various scenarios. Dawid Celt supervises the whole thing. Team captain who appropriately, among others, selects the team by selecting the tennis players who will compete in individual matches.

Celt made his debut as the captain of the Polish national team in 2018, during the Fed Cup, the predecessor of the Billie Jean King Cup. Interestingly, his first call-ups were based on the following set: Linette, Fręch, Świątek and Alicja Rosolska – one from outside the group present in Malaga.

During the Spanish final tournament, Celt made the right decision to select Linette for the singles match against Spain. The Poznań player repaid with a valuable victory. And it was not so obvious, taking into account the WTA ranking, where Fręch is higher than the experienced Linette. However, the Łódź player saved her strength for the quarterfinal against the Czechs.

Fręch was a few points short of success, and ultimately the Polish team lost, but the team won 2-1. And here again an important decision, the use of Świątek in doubles with Kawa. Although the WTA ranking runner-up had not played in a doubles set for several years, it turned out to be the right move.

Celt is privately married to Agnieszka Radwańska, a former great tennis player. Additionally, apart from his coaching duties and his captaincy, he is a tennis expert and commentator. And as you can see, he feels good on social media, reacting, among others, on… proposals to replace Michał Probierz as coach of the Polish national football team.

Where and when to watch the Poland-Italy semi-final in BJKC 2024?

The fight for a place in the Billie Jean King Cup 2024 final between Poles and Italians will take place on Monday (November 18). The start is scheduled for 5 p.m. Who will play in the second semi-final? This will become clear only in the next few days. On Sunday (i.e. November 17), the quarterfinals will be played with the participation of Canada and Great Britain, as well as Australia and Slovakia.

It is from this quartet that the second semi-final pair will emerge, which will play on Tuesday (i.e. November 19). The grand finale in Malaga a day later, on Wednesday, from 6 p.m.
