Controversy after the Poland-Sweden match. Was there a penalty?
On the TVP Sport website, former international referee Rafał Rostowski pointed out a serious error to the referee of Tuesday’s match. In his opinion, Slavko Vinčić could have awarded a penalty kick to the Poles in the first quarter of the match. He claimed that Cash’s touching of the ball with his hand was accidental and should not have interrupted the game.
“The Pole moved in accordance with motor coordination, in accordance with the dynamics of movement, he did not score a goal after the ball touched his hand, so referee Slavko Vincić should not have stopped the game. The ball rolled to Robert Lewandowski, who kicked it, but was fouled in the penalty area by Carl Starfelt,” he noted.
There was also controversy in the second part of the match. Jakub Kamiński may have been fouled in the penalty area as he stuck his foot in front of the Swedish defender. He didn’t kick the ball, but at the Pole. However, the Slovenian referee did not even decide to check the situation via the VAR system.
