Danger in the Poles’ favorite country. Red alert on the entire coast
Extreme weather on the Adriatic coast in the coming days could be particularly dangerous for tourists. A “red alert” is in effect in some regions of Croatia until Wednesday.
The most popular Croatian cities such as Rijeka, Split and Dubrovnik may not be the safest places to visit in the coming days. This is all because of another heat wave that is passing over the Adriatic coast. The State Hydrometeorological Institute (DHMZ) has warned residents and travelers about the consequences of spending too much time in the sun. The heat also poses a high fire risk. During this year’s vacation, tourists have already been evacuated from hotels and rented apartments several times due to spreading fires.
Danger in Poles’ favorite country
On the latest maps published by the Croatian State Hydrometeorological Institute (DHMZ), the popular holiday destination among Poles is burning bright red. Meteorologists’ forecasts are truly alarming – in the coming days, temperatures on the coast may reach up to 40 degrees Celsius. Due to the dangerous consequences of being outdoors during the heat, as well as the risk of fires, the country has been placed on a “red alert”, which will remain valid for some regions until Wednesday. The threat is serious on the coast and in the most visited cities of the Republic of Croatia – including Rijeka, Split and Dubrovnik.
When will the cooldown come?
Unfortunately, it does not look like the Balkan Peninsula will experience more moderate temperatures in the coming days. According to weather forecasters, it is going to be even warmer next week by the sea in Croatia. “Protect yourself, children and the elderly. Follow the recommendations of the relevant authorities. Due to the heat, the city’s infrastructure may break down,” warns DHMZ. What’s more, high temperatures will also bother tourists at night. Sleeping in the heat can affect the quality of your sleep and cause shortness of breath.
