Czarnecki on the Olympic Games in Poland. “I am glad that Tusk stepped into Lech Kaczyński’s shoes”
Ryszard Czarnecki noted in the context of organizing the Olympic Games in Poland that “the first Polish politician to talk about it was Lech Kaczyński”. – I am glad that in this matter the prime minister from the Platform is continuing the efforts of the president, and then the prime minister from PiS – noted the politician.
Donald Tusk announced that Poland will begin official efforts to organize the Olympic Games in 2040 or 2044. Ryszard Czarnecki recalled in an interview with “Wprost” that “the first Polish politician to talk about the Olympic Games in Poland was President Lech Kaczyński”. – At that time, it seemed that the winter games would have a better chance, but as a result of the referendum in Kraków, which was to be one of the entities of these games, this idea fell through – noted the former PiS MEP.
Czarnecki also reminded the current head of government that “exactly a year ago such a concept” was announced by the then Minister of Sport and Tourism. – I am glad that in this matter Prime Minister Tusk stepped into the shoes of Lech Kaczyński, Mateusz Morawiecki and Kamil Bortniczuk. However, I would like to point out that we talked about the games in 2036 – and this is less talked about – together with Germany, because at that time it increased the chance that they would be in Poland – explained the Law and Justice politician.

Czarnecki, developing this theme, explained that “more and more large sports events are organized by a few countries”. – In addition, the chance for this would be increased by the fact that it would be the centenary of the Berlin Games. Well, unless it turns out in a moment that Berlin will start on its own, probably with Munich or other cities – emphasized the former MEP. Czarnecki “is glad that in this matter the prime minister from the Platform is continuing the efforts of the president, and then the prime minister from PiS”.
The politician assessed that “this is a good illustration of the thesis of the theory of the outstanding Polish leftist sociologist Ludwik Krzywicki, who spoke about ideas traveling in time”. – I believe that we need to try here. I will certainly be critical of the Prime Minister, but I will not criticize him for talking about the Olympic Games. He must reject such minimalism. Poland is a relatively large country in the European Union, and countries smaller than us have already had them, so we need to do it – concluded Czarnecki.
