Crushing words from the Polish representative. “I didn’t see a purpose in my life”
Kamil Majchrzak will remember 2025 in a unique way. The Polish tennis player became the national number 1 and showed himself on great world courts.
There is no doubt, however, that Kamil Majchrzak was in a completely different mood at the end of 2022. At that time, the presence of prohibited performance-enhancing substances was detected in the body of a tennis player from Piotrków Trybunalski. The verdict was clear, Majchrzak lost the opportunity to practice his beloved tennis.
Kamil Majchrzak recalls the most difficult moment of his career
Only in mid-2023 did the International Tennis Integrity Agency accept the Pole’s explanation that he had unknowingly taken prohibited substances. Majchrzak’s suspension lasted 13 months and ended at the end of 2023. The Polish tennis player had to start everything from the beginning.
– It totally devastated me and I didn’t feel like leaving the house. My wife had a hard time dealing with me because I was a wreck and a shadow of myself. I saw no purpose in my life. It was a very traumatic experience. However, I learned to live with it and talk about it. At some point I came to the conclusion that I would either work through it and come out stronger as a person, or I would cry, complain about my fate and finally give up. I preferred the first option (…) I have known life without tennis. Before the suspension, I reacted emotionally to the results. It’s easier for me now because my relationship with tennis is healthier. I’m constantly trying to keep it all in order, admitted Majchrzak in an interview for TVP Sport.
However, the Polish tennis player did not give up and began to painstakingly rebuild his ATP ranking, trying to return to the group of the best with a chance to play, among others. in Grand Slam tournaments. Majchrzak succeeded in this feat, what’s more, solid work resulted in the player having an exceptionally successful 2025 season.
Majchrzak reached the fourth round of Wimbledon, and he will repeat his best result in his career at the US Open, reaching the third round on the New York courts. In terms of rankings, the tennis player also became the highest-ranked player from Poland – overtaking the current leader, Hubert Hurkacz.
And it seems that Majchrzak has not yet said the last word in the context of his career development. Currently, the Pole is in 68th place in the ATP ranking, and this year he achieved the highest position in the ranking – number 61.
