Compromise of Legia Warsaw. “We know weather, higher forces”
AEK Larnaka turned out to be a very difficult challenge for Legia Warsaw players. Cypriots broke the legionnaires 4: 1 in the third round of the UEFA Europa League elimination.
Before the start of the meeting, one could see some chances in favor of the hosts in the form of playing the match on your hot, literally and figuratively – figuratively – area. Larnak and the Cypriot climate, i.e. a temperature at a level of well over 30 degrees, and in addition very high humidity, certainly did not help visitors from Warsaw. But Legia should present itself much better.
Legia Warsaw’s defeat. Zbigniew Boniek summarized her briefly
Varsovians apparently did not expect that the rival could set such hard conditions. One can get the impression that in the previous round – the Banik Ostrava, eliminated by the Legion – was a team of greater sports quality. However, the Polish team was able to find a way to eliminate the opponent. It was completely different in Larnace, where it finally ended with a compromising 1: 4. The result, which with three goals, will be difficult to make up for the rematch in Warsaw.
Legia commented on Legia in his style on the X PZPN President Zbigniew Boniek. “Zibi” traditionally follows events related to Polish football, regularly placing entries in social media.
“We know the weather, higher forces. In a week there will be a different aura” – reads the words of Bonka, which Internet users quickly caught.
Interestingly, during the rematch in Warsaw, the temperature will be … quite similar to the one that legionaries found in Cyprus. At least, this is how weather forecasts indicate. With the difference that in Poland there will not be such a high humidity of air, which can be favored by the hosts. Well, however, since at the end Legia must simply show that it is better than the opponent. AEK LARNAKA having a three -team advance, he can actually focus mainly on defending access to his own goal, and at the same time leading dangerous counter -contracts. And this can be the key to success again.
It is worth adding that Thursday, August 7, was not successful for Polish teams appearing in European cups. Of the three representatives of PKO BP Ekstraklasa, only Jagiellonia Białystok won. And it seemed to be the most demanding area in Denmark. “Jaga” won with Silkeborg 1: 0.
The defeat – apart from Legia – was also included in Raków Częstochowa. The team led by coach Marek Papszuna unexpectedly lost on their own area 0: 1 from Maccabi Hajf. The club from Israel took a priceless, though modest advance from Jasna Góra.
In the case of Jagiellonia and Rakow, we are talking about the third round of the conference league elimination. The rematch, as in the case of Legia (i.e. the UEFA European League), will take place in a week.
