This is not how the journey of passengers flying from Montreal, Canada to New York was supposed to end. A plane from a well-known airline hit the car after it was already on the ground. We’re talking about deaths and chaos.

The dangerous incident occurred on March 23 on the night from Sunday to Monday at LaGuardia Airport in New York. This one is located on the northern edge of Queens in the central part of the city and usually includes domestic connections. Passengers experienced moments of horror after an Air Canada plane (CRJ-900) collided with a fire truck. Not everyone managed to survive.

Information about the accident is provided by, among others, Flightradar24. The Canadian Airlines plane operated by the regional partner Jazz Aviation allegedly hit the car at a speed of approximately 39 km/h. There was immediate chaos on the runway, and the New York Police Department received a report of a collision.

The recordings published online show the plane in the LaGuardia port with a broken front. Initially, the information provided showed that at least 4 people were injured, but the number was still being assessed. It is now known that two pilots died as a result of serious injuries. Earlier, they were taken to hospital in a serious condition with limb fractures. At the same time, firefighters are in critical condition.

There were 76 passengers and four crew members on board Air Canada at the time of the collision.

Problems at LaGuardia Airport

Due to the serious accident, the New York airport was immediately closed, as announced by the American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). All scheduled flights were diverted and some were returned to their origins. This is important information, especially for tourists who plan to travel from this port on March 23. The problems were said to persist until at least 6:30 a.m. Polish time. However, difficulties may persist for much longer.

Important news was reported by, among others: New York Emergency Management Authority. In the city, especially around the airport, you can expect road closures, traffic delays and an increased presence of emergency personnel.
