Coach drops best Polish ski jumpers: "We have work to do"

Polish ski jumpers did not impress during the Summer Grand Prix competitions in Wisła. Dawid Kubacki and Aleksander Zniszczoł will unexpectedly not be sent to the next competitions of the cycle.

Last weekend in Wisła – to put it mildly – we did not experience any fireworks from the Polish ski jumpers. There were no Austrians, Germans or strong Slovenians in the group. Ryoyu Kobayashi also did not appear on the hill. Despite this fact, the Polish team was not able to join the fight for the podium. Aleksander Zniszczoł was able to win two places in the top ten (8th and 10th position). However, he was far from being fully satisfied.

Thurnbichler surprised before Rasnov

Currently, Poles can only field four jumpers in the Summer Grand Prix. In Wisła, apart from Zniszczoł, one of the best Poles was Dawid Kubacki. However, both competitors will not appear in the next competitions in Rasnov. In Romania, we will see Paweł Wąsek, Jakub Wolny, Maciej Kot and Kacper Juroszek at the start.

Coach Thomas Thurnbichler hopes to win an additional, fifth starting spot for our team in the Summer Grand Prix in the near future. Kubacki and Zniszczoł are to focus on training.

Kubacki openly talks about his form

The Poles’ poor form worried the fans a bit. Although good form is most important in winter, Wisła was counting on better results. Dawid Kubacki tries not to wring his hands after the last competitions, but he realizes that more work needs to be done to stabilize his jumps.

– I won’t say that we haven’t worked before, but roughly speaking, we need to get down to work. The competition in Wisła showed that there are reserves and we have something to work on. We need to focus on it calmly. I am definitely able to draw positives from this weekend. I made a step forward, which I showed in quite nice single jumps. Now we just need to stabilize so that it is not jumping in a checkered pattern – said Dawid Kubacki in an interview with Interia.

The competition in Rasnov, Romania will take place on September 20-22. There are currently no plans to broadcast the upcoming competition on Polish television.
