A large European airport has completed the several-year process of installing CT scanners. This means big changes for passengers.

When flying from Munich, we no longer have to worry about the limit of liquids carried in hand luggage. From Friday, September 18, a large transfer airport, whose offer is also eagerly used by Poles, is officially introducing changes that passengers have been waiting for for years. The installation of CT scanners, necessary to lift the current restrictions, has been ongoing at the airport since 2019. So far, the liquid limit has only been partially lifted – the new rules finally introduce uniform travel rules for all passengers.

Another European airport lifts the liquid limit

From September 18, it will be allowed to carry containers of liquids with a capacity of up to two liters in hand luggage at Munich Airport, and the current limit of 100 ml will no longer apply. The new scanners will also allow you to leave cosmetics, drinks and electronics inside your hand luggage – so you will not have to take out your laptop or other electronic devices separately during the security check. Thanks to the new solutions, inspection will be faster, which will significantly shorten queues. As Flu4free.pl writes, the date of introduction of the new rules is particularly beneficial for travelers going to Bavaria, because the Oktoberfest begins in Munich the day after, which attracts crowds of guests from all over the world every year.

Poles will benefit from the changes

The change will also be important for passengers from Poland, for whom Munich has been one of the most important European transfer ports for years. According to Fly4free.pl, last year the airport was used by over 1.1 million people traveling between it and Polish airports. This season, traffic may be lower due to the limitation of some Lufthansa connections, but Munich still remains an important point on routes from Poland. The German port is no exception – new CT scanners are also already in operation, among others, in Berlin, Frankfurt and Nuremberg.
