Changes at the Polish airport in 1.5 months. Here we are slowly saying goodbye to fluid limits

Airports in Poland and around the world are regularly equipped with modern scanners, thanks to which you do not have to take your laptop out of your backpack or maintain strict fluid limits during inspections. This is already the case, among others, in Kraków and Poznań, where travelers can transport liquids in packages with a capacity of up to 2 liters. Gdańsk is getting closer to introducing changes.

Gdańsk Airport. Lech Wałęsa confirmed in January that it would introduce modern CT scanners in July. Now – according to fly4free.pl – it has been announced that we will see the first two such devices there in June and will be of a testing nature. Those tourists who show up at the newest checkpoints will benefit.
“We decided to purchase two devices of this type to test how much it would improve security control and reduce queues. The new devices should be operational within 1.5 months,” commented Tomasz Kloskowski, president of the Gdańsk airport, in an interview with Fly4free.pl.
No more fluid limits
This holiday season, the liquid limit in Gdańsk will not be lifted everywhere yet, only at two selected control lines, but many travelers will still feel relieved. The complete abolition of these rules will only apply in the summer of 2027, when new devices will be available at all stations.
The president of the airport announced that all efforts are being made in this direction and to achieve the goal it will be necessary to postpone certain plans in the investment program. The next step is to announce a tender and install scanners. “It is a very large investment of PLN 40 million. But we want to do it,” said Kloskowski.
The latest generation of EDSCB C3 scanners allows you to inspect hand luggage using computed tomography technology. Airport employees immediately see 3D images, so you do not have to remove electronics, liquids, aerosols and gels (with a single package capacity of up to 2 liters) from your hand luggage.
