Cezary Kulesza lost the election! A huge blow to the head of PZPN

This is not how the UEFA Congress of the Polish Football Association imagined. Cezary Kulesza was supposed to replace Zbigniew Boniek.
During the 49th UEFA Congress in Belgrade, a new composition of the Executive Committee was established. Cezary Kulesza was the Polish candidate, but on seven available vacancies he only obtained the eighth result and thus Poland loses the representative in the key body of UEFA.
Earlier, Zbigniew Boniek, former president of PZPN and an outstanding Polish representative played such a role. The Pole was even the Vice President of UEFA (from 2021). Boniek functioned in the structures of European football for two terms and could not apply for the third.
However, as it turns out, Kulesza failed to repeat the Bonnek’s result, which is a defeat for the current head of PZPN.
Cezary Kulesza’s failure in UEFA. The head of the PZPN did not enter the structures
In the vote of 55 Federations associated in UEFA, the necessary majority was 28 votes. Meanwhile, Cezary Kulesza received only 21 football associations.
After defeat, the person himself spoke, through social media.

I am already declaring full readiness to cooperate. During the elections I had many important conversations and meetings. Poland has gained important allies on the international arena. We continue our efforts, among others for the organization of the Final of the Women’s Champions League in 2027 and Euro 2029 women. Let’s keep our fingers crossed! – we read in the post on Kulesza’s profile on the portal X.
The lack of the head of the PZPN in UEFA structures is not only a failure of the person concerned, but also certainly a poor situation from the perspective of the federation. It remains to hope that Polish football will not lose its importance in the context of the relevant decisions of the European Football Headquarters. The past years have shown that the organizational potential is valued in the Polish case in the eyes of UEFA.
There is no doubt that a lot of good work in the context of Poland’s importance in UEFA was done by the mentioned Boniek. It seems that now the reality will unfortunately be slightly different …
