Caves and river arch visible from space. It’s an intriguing place for a trip

Załęczański Park Krajobrazowy

Green places don’t have to be boring. Here you will find not only peace, but also numerous attractions. It is one of the first of its kind in Poland.

For a moment, in your mind’s eye, travel with us to the Załęczański Landscape Park. Then plan at least a short trip there. The place in question is located in the province of Łódź Province (Pątnów, Wierzchlas, Działoszyn Communes) and Silesia Province (Lipie Commune). Tourists can enjoy areas for hiking, cycling, horse riding and many others. There are caves, springs, Jurassic landscapes and valuable finds all around. The abundance of plant and animal species there has amazed everyone for years, so it is a paradise for ornithologists, ecologists and even paleontology enthusiasts.

Załęczański Landscape Park. It hides secrets

The place in question has existed since 1978 and is considered one of the first protected areas in Poland. Over the years, more and more has been discovered there, including: 10 caves, bones of 102 species of vertebrates preserved with calcite and quarries. Today, the place is taken care of by, among others: Society of Friends of the Wielki Łuku Warta (TPWŁW.), keeping documentation, photographing trees and birds.

Dr. Adam Szynkiewicz from the University of Wrocław, who studies local caves, believes that there are many areas still waiting to be discovered in the area, including: Wieluń, where, in his opinion, there may even be dinosaur remains.

Interestingly, the Załęczański Landscape Park includes as many as five reserves – Węże, Dąbrowa, Bukowa Góra, Szachownica and Stawiska. Additionally, ecological areas are available, including: the Wronia Woda oxbow lake and natural monuments such as Żabi Staw, Góra św. Genevieve, Source of St. Florian. These are the elements that tourists like to discover. There is something completely different waiting for them in each area, and the variety of areas makes the trips interesting and intriguing. One point is particularly delightful.

This point should not be missed

A special area in the park is the Arch of the Warta River, one of the most beautiful river gorges in Poland, where the Warta forms a vast, almost loop-like bend. Interestingly, from time to time there is information that this point is visible from space. Astronauts confirm that it is visible from orbit very well – it is a spectacular bend of the river. This is confirmed by satellite views on Google Maps and photos of the area at geoportal.gov.pl.

On site you can plan, among others: kayaking trip. The river makes a large arc between the towns of Bobrowniki (in the north) and Ogroble (in the south). Good bases for the arch are the villages of Kamion, Załęcze Wielkie, Ogroble and Bobrowniki.
