Can I go to the cemetery while on sick leave? Poles in various parts of the country ask themselves this question. We know the answer.

On November 1, millions of Poles will set out to visit necropolises throughout Poland. All Souls’ Day is a time of reflection, reflection and remembrance of loved ones who are no longer with us. It is also a time of travel (sometimes lasting many hours) and family meetings. All Saints’ Day is a public holiday, so the vast majority of us do not have to go to work on that day. However, it happens that for various reasons during this period we are on sick leave, the so-called L4. Therefore, one fundamental question arises.

Can I go to the cemetery during L4 on November 1?

During sick leave (L4), you are allowed to leave home, but certain conditions must be met. The rules regarding what you can do on L4 are related primarily to the type of leave and your health condition.

Two types of exemptions can be issued on L4:

  1. With code 1 (L4 lying down) – The patient should stay at home and avoid going out without justified reasons, so as not to expose himself to additional stress and deterioration of his health. In such a case, going to the cemetery is rather inadvisable.
  2. With code 2 (L4 walking) – The patient can leave home, but the exits should be adapted to his or her health condition and should not negatively affect the treatment process. In this case, going to the cemetery, if it is not bothersome or does not lead to deterioration of health, is usually acceptable.

However, it should be remembered that the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) has the right to check whether the patient complies with the doctor’s recommendations and restrictions related to sick leave. Going to the cemetery on November 1, if in accordance with medical recommendations, should not be a problem, but it is always worth consulting it with the doctor issuing the sick leave.
