Camaïeu revival. Where can we buy clothes with this logo?
The Camaïeu brand will be revived. Maybe not to the extent that Polish fans of the chain would expect, but it’s always a first step.
Anyone who missed the French clothing brand Camaïeu, which disappeared from Poland in 2020, will soon be able to buy clothes with the popular label again. Unfortunately, only when on holiday in France or Belgium, because stores will be opened there that will carry the “be camaïeu” collection. It will be launched at the end of August by another French brand, Celio.
Camaieu disappeared in 2020
Celio currently operates 320 stores in France, and wants to introduce a collection inspired by Camaïeu’s designs to 50 of them. These clothes won’t be expensive – the price per item is not to exceed 30 euros.
Camaïeu is a brand created in the 1980s. Over the decades of its existence, it has expanded significantly and opened stores in many countries around the world, including Poland, Morocco, Italy and Slovakia.
Until recently, we could visit this company’s stores in most shopping malls in our country. At the end of June 2020, however, the brand disappeared, and over 2.5 thousand people lost their jobs in warehouses and stores. On October 1, 2022, Camaïeu announced the complete cessation of its operations. However, this was not the final end, because the French group Celio bought the rights to the chain’s trademark. It was suspected that this was related to the intention to bring the brand back to life. These intentions are slowly becoming clear. Who knows, maybe in the future the collections will also appear in Poland.
Camaieu was not the only brand to withdraw from the Polish market around 2020. The “great absentees” are presented in this gallery. Do you hope that these brands will return to Poland?
The uncertain fate of Sunday trading
Will the potential increase in the number of shopping Sundays help the retail sector? The project prepared by Ryszard Petru does not completely abolish the ban on Sunday shopping, but increases the number of shopping Sundays to two per month (shops could be open on the first and third Sundays). Today, we can only shop on seven Sundays per year, so this would be a huge change. But is it expected?
The largest organization associating trade representatives does not want this.
“The Polish Chamber of Commerce, as the broadest representation of trade in Poland, is against the proposed changes to Sunday trading. We will request that the bill be rejected in its entirety and that the currently existing solutions be retained,” PIH informed.
