Cable car failure to Czantoria. Tourists evacuated
Tourists are being evacuated due to a cable car failure on Czantoria in Ustroń in the Silesian Beskids, RMF FM reported. The rescue operation could last up to three hours.
On Friday, August 30, a tourist attraction broke down. It was a cable car in Ustroń in the Silesian Beskids. The services were notified of the failure at around 3:30 p.m. It indicated that there had probably been a fire in the electrical installation, which resulted in the cable car stopping, RMF FM reported.
Due to the failure, a decision was made to evacuate. Initially, the media reported that 50 people needed help. Later, the number of people waiting for evacuation, which was mentioned in the announcements, increased to 80.

A dozen or so fire brigades, the Mountain Volunteer Search and Rescue and a specialist high-altitude rescue group from the Municipal Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Jastrzębie Zdrój are working on site. – Initial reconnaissance showed that there were about 80 people trapped in the queue – said Senior Asp. Jakub Maciążek, press officer of the District Commander of the State Fire Service in Cieszyn, in an interview with RMF FM.
– People are evacuated using mountaineering techniques using ropes. If these are places where it is possible to put up a ladder, then this evacuation is simplified – he added. The rescue operation can take up to three hours.
