Polish train travel enthusiasts use proven connections in their country and abroad. In the summer, the route from PKP to Croatia is a hit, and soon there will be, among others: an interesting novelty on the Adriatic Sea in Italy, which we mentioned quite recently. We should also not forget about the connections announced by other European countries. It is supposed to be one of the longest on our continent.
They are preparing a unique railway route
We are talking about a direct connection from Oslo in Norway to Berlin, during which travelers will travel through spectacular areas on Deutsche Bahn’s new ICE trains. The Norwegian railway Vy, the Danish DSB and the German Deutsche Bahn are responsible for the project, and the plans were announced in May 2026.
Those interested will travel through four countries – Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany, passing, among others, such large cities as Gothenburg, Malmo, Copenhagen, Odense and Hamburg. Importantly, this will be the first direct passenger train between Norway and Denmark in over 20 years and the first between Norway and Germany.
“We are now creating a new, regular connection between Oslo, Copenhagen, Hamburg and Berlin. We can connect Norway more closely with Europe, and in the future this may open the way to direct trains to other large European cities,” said Gro Bakstad, president of Vy, in a statement.
Bridges, artificial island and tunnels. This is what tourists will see
There will be many attractions waiting for tourists who will travel on the new train. Although it won’t be Switzerland or Japan, which are particularly associated with unique views on railway routes, it also promises to be fascinating. For example, between Malmoe and Copenhagen, the train will pass through Oeresund: over an 8-kilometer bridge, then through a 4-kilometer artificial island and a 4-kilometer tunnel under the strait.
Tourists also travel over the 6-kilometer Vestbroen Bridge or the 8-kilometer Oesttunnelen railway tunnel. The entire route will last approximately 14-15 hours, during which we will cover approximately 1.5 thousand kilometers. km. It is worth remembering that it will not break the record holder anyway. Currently, the longest uninterrupted railway route in the world is 18,755 km long and leads from Portugal to Singapore.
The direct route from Oslo to Berlin is to be ready in July 2028. Trains are scheduled to run twice a day all year round. They will be equipped with, among others: in a dining car, family car and first class.
