All of Poland is talking about rising butter prices. Data from the PanParagon application show that the price of the product has increased by over 30% since the beginning of the year. At the beginning of January, the median price was PLN 6.99 per cube, while at the beginning of December it was PLN 9.11. There is little consolation in the fact that Germany is struggling with even greater increases.
The price of butter in Germany increased by 43%.
Data quoted by dw.com show that the price of butter in our western neighbors increased by as much as 42.9% in November. compared to the same period last year. In German stores, the price for a stick of butter ranges from 2.39 to 4 euros (equivalent to PLN 11-17).
Unfortunately, there is no end in sight to the increases and, as experts predict, for now, due to the development of milk prices (a slight increase of 2-3% is expected in December compared to November), no decreases should be expected.
The reason for rising prices is primarily the decreasing supply of raw milk. The number of dairy cows and dairy farms in Germany has been declining for years.
Data from the Federal Statistical Office show that overall, in the annual comparison, food prices in Germany increased by 2.8 percent, and confectionery prices increased by 23.9 percent.
