Butter for Easter for PLN 12? Fatal expert forecasts

According to the UCE Research, Hyper-Com and the Blix group, which “Rzeczpospolita” provides that in January, the cube of butter cost on an average of PLN 7.6 in stores, while a year earlier it was PLN 5.9. These data were obtained based on price analysis in 540 stores.

Butter prices still high?

Despite the government’s intervention, butter prices still remain high and not only in Poland. As the newspaper notes, the reason for this state of affairs are, among others Rising milk purchase prices (in December 2024 the price was nearly PLN 260/1HL and was higher by over 22 % than a year ago).

To make matters worse, in January, commercial networks organized nearly 12 percent. less butter promotion than at the beginning of 2024. Supermarkets were leading in this respect, where the decrease was 22.7 percent.

Another tactic was adopted by discount stores, where the increase in butter promotion was recorded, by 12.5 percent. The good news is that discounts can be expected before Easter. – Customers have already got used to the fact that in each pre -Christmas period we make it easier for them to prepare for Christmas, which is why they will traditionally be able to find basic products at attractive prices also before Easter – He emphasizes Paweł Szelerski, director of the Biedronka network, quoted by Gazeta.

Butter cube for PLN 12?

When will we be able to stop hunting for promotions and buy butter at an affordable price? Here, unfortunately, experts do not have good news, indicating that you need to prepare to exceed the next price barrier. – As for butter price forecasts, the time has come to set a new psychological threshold – PLN 12 at a regular price and not lower than PLN 8.99 in the promotion. I think we will reach this level to Easter – says Piotr Biela from the Blix group.
