Budget 2026 in question. Nawrocki says no taxes
The budget deficit in 2026 can reach up to PLN 300 billion. The government suspends some tax proposals, waiting for the president’s decisions.
According to “Puls Biznesu”, a deficit in the state budget at 2026 may range from 290 to 300 billion. This is a huge financial challenge that the government will have to face. The Ministry of Finance has prepared a package of proposals aimed at improving the situation, but some of them were suspended. The reason is the position of President Karol Nawrocki, who objected to tax increases during the Wednesday office council.
Additional influence
The solutions presented so far assume additional budget revenues of PLN 10 billion. Among them are, among others Changes in taxation of banks. As the newspaper reveals, the original plans, however, were more extensive and included, for example, the increase in the fee from the so -called “Monkey”, or alcohol sold in small bottles. The government, fearing the lack of support from the president, decided to suspend the presentation of other proposals.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk emphasized that the budget details for 2026 are still refined, but the document will be adopted on Thursday. – At 14 o’clock the budget project will be ready and everything will become clear – announced the head of government.
GDP growth
According to the assumptions adopted in June, the economy in 2026 is to develop at a rate of 3.5 percent. GDP, and the average annual inflation is to amount to 3 percent. The average gross salary in the national economy should increase by 6.7 percent, and in the enterprise sector the payroll dynamics was determined at 106.9 percent.
According to forecasts, unemployment registered at the end of 2026 will amount to 4.9 percent, and employment in the national economy is to be at the level of 11 million jobs. The number of jobs in the budget sphere was estimated at approx. 618.9 thousand.
The Constitution provides that the draft budget must be transferred to the Sejm and then the president who has 7 days to sign it. If the document does not go to the head of state within 4 months, the president may shorten the Sejm’s term.
