Breakthrough changes in PKP. Passengers have been waiting for them for a long time
Changes in the purchase of PKP tickets are being prepared. Passengers who are going abroad will benefit from them.
The process of purchasing the PKP international ticket has not been the easiest one until now. Passengers could not plan a trip well in advance, for example by booking a place for vacation in May. This is about to change soon. PKP has announced a list of improvements that are to come into force later this year. Among the amenities was the possibility of buying a ticket abroad even six months earlier, as well as the introduction of automatic email notifications or a combined ticket for urban transport.
PKP train for a foreign vacation
From Poland abroad we can reach not only by plane. Thanks to the direct connections of PKP, travelers can find in a few hours, among others In Vienna, Berlin, Bratislava, Vilnius or Budapest, and then, using the interchange connections of European carriers, to reach, among others to Paris or Rijeka. Until now, however, travel planning was an obstacle. While in the case of airlines you can often buy tickets for several months, and even a year before traveling, with booking places in the train range you had to wait up to two months before departure. According to the railway market, this year, however, the possibility of buying tickets will appear on the website and the carrier’s application. At the beginning it will apply only to some connections, including To Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria – travelers will be able to book a place on these trains up to 180 days before departure. Passengers can already choose a place on international trains from the graphic map, as well as buy a place for a bicycle and a pet, which until recently was impossible.
Better information transmission
PKP Intercity also intends to improve communication with passengers, which is particularly important in the case of international journeys. In the future, travelers will be able to expect email notifications about unexpected changes in the timetable on the purchased connection. Soon, some national connections will also be introduced to buy a combined ticket, allowing free use of public transport in Warsaw.
