Bosak wants restrictions for Ukrainians. “Poles won’t be able to afford it”

Krzysztof Bosak

Krzysztof Bosak believes that foreign capital increases real estate prices in Poland. He wants restrictions on foreign buyers and funds.

– When I look at the real estate market, it is a nightmare – said Krzysztof Bosak in “Rozmowa Wprost”. According to the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, the increase in housing prices is the result of several overlapping phenomena, which is why it cannot be stopped with one simple solution.

One of the problems is the inflow of foreign capital. The politician argued that for people with savings in Ukraine, Poland has become a safe place to invest their money. Western investment funds are also expected to be an additional problem.

– There were many acts of purchasing real estate with capital brought from Ukraine. Poland is treated by Ukrainian capital owners as a safe haven. In my opinion it should be blocked, he said.

Bosak: Nobody controls the capital

The leader of the Confederation stated that the restrictions should apply not only to Ukrainian citizens, but also to capital flowing from the East more broadly.

– Purchase of real estate by Ukrainians and generally by capital from the East, because it is also from Belarus and Russia. After all, no one controls which capital in Ukraine is Russian and which is Ukrainian, he argued.

Bosak also spoke in favor of blocking the possibility of mass purchases of apartments by foreign investment funds. In his opinion, real estate should not only serve as a capital investment.

– If we turn the Polish housing market into an investment for capital surpluses from the East and the West, Poles will not be able to afford apartments – he warned.

“Moronic Master Plans”

Another factor increasing prices will be general plans introduced by municipalities. According to Bosak, the new regulations limit the number of areas available for development.

– If we have less developed land for development, the cost of land is higher and thus the cost of apartments and houses will increase – he explained. He previously described general plans as “moronic” and supported their abolition.

The politician also pointed to mass migration, growing construction requirements and the concentration of jobs in the largest agglomerations. In his opinion, only a simultaneous change of several elements of housing policy can stop price increases.
