Blind influencer: Disabled people have been turned into “spotties”

A blind person, a person in a wheelchair, “must” be shown compassion. And who said that this person expects this compassion? – said Adrian Now, founder of “W Ciemno”, a blind influencer, in the podcast “Wprost Stanowinie”.
Paulina Socha-Jakubowska: How much does the fact that you cannot see define you?
Adrian Now: This is a very interesting question, because I try not to be defined by my lack of sight. It does not cause any limitations. Last time I checked, when was the last time I actually saw. Back in 2014, in February, I saw messages on Messenger. True, it was on a computer, a black background and yellow font, but still.
In 2012 I was still riding a bike.
So you haven’t seen for 10 years.
Yes, but I don’t focus on the fact that this sight is gone. I try not to focus, because if I did, my life would be different now. I think that it is just some small dysfunction, some small problem… In my head I have it arranged in such a way that it is a defect, but I can deal with this defect.

You’re doing great, you run social media where you educate and show technological solutions to people who are on a similar path to you and let them know how to make their lives easier. But I wonder if you ever thanked a higher power, providence, God, whatever we call it, for those years of your life when you saw, when you could see what this world looks like?
Not that I’m thanking you, but I really appreciate the fact that during these 16-17 years of my life, when I was slowly losing my eyesight, I could still see.
