Billions to the Polish Post Office. Financing provided for the next two years

The Council of Ministers approved the proposal of the Ministry of State Asset to co -finance the Polish Post with PLN 997 million in 2026 and PLN 960 million in 2027. It is about PLN 700 million more than previous arrangements – writes Gazeta.pl.
According to the government, in this way it will be possible to achieve “compliance of budget expenditure limits to finance universal services in 2026-2027 with EU requirements.”
Alternating rescue service for post office
In 2024, the company had “only” PLN 213 million net loss. “Only” because only a year earlier it recorded a record gross loss of PLN 745 million. Although funding from the state budget concerns the delivery of shipments and letters five times a week, the post office is of the opinion that a postman does not have to visit all the delivery points in the region assigned to it. For now, the pilot covers about 7 percent. Delivery regions, but the plan assumes that “alternating delivery” will be implemented throughout the postal network.
The new system will also affect the delivery of retirement and disability pension benefits from ZUS. About two million pensioners (exactly 1.78 million people) still receive benefits from a postman, not to a bank account.
Poles are waiting longer for the letters and shipments
