Big transfer on the Polish market! The former representative officially changed the club

Karol Urbanowicz

Karol Urbanowicz is changing the club after two years in ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. The new employer of the famous midfielder is Energa Indykpol AZS Olsztyn.

In the case of Karol Urbanowicz, we are talking about one of the most interesting midfielders on the Polish market. However, the biggest problem for a volleyball player is health, or more precisely, susceptibility to injuries. From the perspective of recent seasons, there were many situations in which Urbanowicz could not help on the pitch – either for his club team or even for the Polish national team.

PlusLiga: Karol Urbanowicz left ZAKSA. He is a former Polish representative

The player from Gdańsk (born 2001) was officially recognized as the Discovery of the Season in PlusLiga after the 2021/22 campaign. Urbanowicz also found recognition in the eyes of Nikola Grbic. The coach of the Polish national team called up the player to the most important team in the country, but overall it was health problems that slightly knocked the midfielder off the national team carousel.

Urbanowicz spent the last two seasons in the colors of ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. In total, Urbanowicz has already scored over 1,000 points in PlusLiga, playing over 150 official matches. Now it’s time to move to Olsztyn.

– The team from Olsztyn has always been associated with bravery. This is a place where players come, develop and perform very well. This is a team that plays up to its potential, and often even beyond it. Coming to Hala Urania, you could always feel the unique atmosphere and emotions coming from the fans. This is undoubtedly something special and one of the reasons why I chose Olsztyn. The negotiations didn’t take long, in fact they only took a few days. I am very happy to be under the wing of such a trainer. He is a trainer with extensive experience, primarily as a player, admitted Urbanowicz.

Interestingly, in the ranks of Energa Indykpol AZS, the volleyball player will have the opportunity to work with the coach who was his boss when he played in the Polish youth national team. Additionally, Daniel Pliński, because we are talking about him, is a former center. There is no doubt, therefore, that Urbanowicz can gain a lot from this cooperation.

– What I would most like to show the fans in Olsztyn at the end of the season is the medal that will hang around the necks of our team’s players. Of course, the road to this goal is still long, but if I were to point to one dream before the season starts, it would be this one. I also want to show that as a team we will never give up. We will fight in every match and compete to win against every opponent. We want to provide our fans with many emotions, because this is what professional sport is all about: emotions, positive energy and sharing moments that help achieve success – said the new center of Energa Indykpol AZS Olsztyn.

Urbanowicz’s contract with the Olsztyn club was initialed for one year. The inhabitants of Olsztyn do not hide the fact that they have ambitious plans to achieve a really good result and, ultimately, to return to the game for the highest goals in PlusLiga. In the context of the club from Olsztyn, we are talking about the five-time Polish champion. The last title, however, is from the old days, from 1992.

In total, volleyball players from Olsztyn won as many as 22 medals at the Polish senior championships. The mentioned five gold, eight silver and nine bronze. The last time the Olsztyn team stood on the podium was in 2008 (3rd place).
