Biedronka enters the Slovak market. Will it be cheaper than in Poland?

Biedronka enters Slovakia. The first store of the chain is to be opened in March.
On March 5, the first Biedronka store, located in Slovak Miloslavov, will officially start its activity. As reported by the website “DaHandlu.pl”, citing the words of Maciej Łukowski, responsible for the expansion of Biedronka on the Slovak market, the network plans to develop its presence in both large and smaller cities and in the villages, offering three different stores of stores.
– First we try to build stores in small and medium -sized cities, Bratislava will be the next step – said Maciej Łukowski.
Slovak Development Strategy
Biedronka intends to focus on development in the region around the Distribution Center in Voderada, and then expand its activities to the next areas of Slovakia. The final number of stores is not yet established – the decision will depend on the preferences of Slovak customers.
The offer of Slovak ladybugs will include 3400 articles, of which half of fresh products will come from local suppliers, such as Paradise and Agro Tami. Initially, Biedronka will not offer a loyalty application, but she plans to implement it in the next two years.
Slovak Low Price Strategy
The situation on the Slovak market is significantly different from the conditions in Poland. According to Łukowski, it is impossible to give a clear answer about the price level in Slovak stores.
– Nobody will compensate us for different taxes (from food) – added Łukowski, but emphasized that Biedronka wants to stand out from the competition with prices and good discounts.
Biedronka does not slow down in Poland
“In her 30th anniversary, Biedronka continues dynamic development, opening symbolic 30 new facilities throughout Poland in the first month of the year,” said the network at the beginning of February, indicating that the January openings of the new Biedronka stores included, among others Warsaw, Radków, Lubomia, Sochaczew, Pęczniew, Rzeszów, Nowa Sól and Tarnobrzeg
