Bartosz Kurek’s injury! What bad luck for the volleyball player at the opening of PlusLiga

Bartosz Kurek

Bartosz Kurek returned to the Polish league after a few years’ break. Unfortunately, the attacker suffered an unpleasant injury in the first round of the PlusLiga.

ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, which Bartosz Kurek joined, went to Warsaw to play against the local PGE Projekt in the first series of PlusLiga games. It was in the capital that the captain of the Polish national team played for the last time.

Unfortunately, ZAKSA started very badly. Or, to be more precise, the aforementioned Kurek. The attacker received an unfortunate ball hit in the eye. Because of this, he went to the locker room in the first set, accompanied by a physiotherapist. On the court, Kurek was replaced by the second attacker of ZAKSA, Mateusz Rećko, who played the first set to the end.

PlusLiga: Bartosz Kurek injured! Short appearance of ZAKSA captain

The hosts won the first set of the match in Warsaw 25:22. During the game, there was brief information about what was happening with Kurek. It turned out that ZAKSA would no longer be able to use Kurek’s services that day. The captain of the team from Kędzierzyn-Koźle and the national team left the Warsaw Torwar with his assistant. Most likely, an additional consultation was needed related to the injury suffered by the ZAKSA attacker.

All that remains is to wish Kurek a speedy recovery. The Warsaw stadium, which was filled to capacity, is just one example of how hungry the fans were for PlusLiga. And figures like Kurek are probably the biggest lure that attracts fans to Polish sports halls.

At this point, however, the most important thing is for Kurek to return to full fitness. Unfortunately, these types of blows with the ball, especially those bounced after a so-called ricochet, can be very unpleasant. And the situation was most likely serious enough that it is worth making sure of the actual health situation. After all, Kurek still has a lot of playing ahead of him on volleyball courts.
