Bartosz Kurek surprised with his declaration. Volleyball fans may be surprised
Bartosz Kurek gave an interesting interview to RMF FM. In a conversation with Wojciech Marczyk, the famous volleyball player revealed his plans for the future.
The volleyball team’s Olympic vice-championship in Paris was, is and will certainly be remembered in Poland for a long time. The national volleyball team could not get through the quarterfinals for a long time. However, this trick was successful at the tournament in the French capital.
Bartosz Kurek on the curse of the Olympic quarterfinals and his future in the national team
Bartosz Kurek is certainly an important figure in coach Nikola Grbic’s puzzle. The captain of the teams during the event in Paris was not a leader in terms of sports, but he certainly did his bit if you look at the structure of the team.
How does “Kuraś” remember that Paris tournament? Interestingly, as you can read between the lines, the 2024 season may not be the last one for Kurek.
– We have broken the curse of the quarter-finals, because now we can say that it was a curse. For so long we swore there was nothing like it, and yet for some reason we were unable to get through this phase of the tournament for so many years. We actually never got past that phase of the tournament. This is interesting because even when our champions won gold, there was no quarterfinal. This makes us happy and makes this year look more pleasant. However, I still feel that I have my goals that I want to achieve, that I have the hunger to continue playing at the highest level possible – admitted Kurek.
Much will probably depend on the performance of “Kuraś” in the colors of ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Kurek must show his importance after returning to PlusLiga. So far, the experienced volleyball player has mainly had to fight to return to the pitch, after an unfortunate eye injury during the first round of the 2024/25 season.
What New Year’s resolutions does the captain of the silver team from Paris make?
– I would like to gain some distance from my work. However, this is crucial when we are in such a rush of matches, training and when the pressure increases. It seemed that after the Olympics it couldn’t get any higher, but it did. For me, returning here to our home league also brings with it a certain amount of stress. So I think a little distance. A little break from the everyday work I love. I think it would be advisable, Kurek noted.
Therefore, all we can do is wish him good health and many more opportunities to observe the legendary player – in good condition in the volleyball arenas.
