Bank transfers before Easter may get stuck. Important advice for customers

In the upcoming Easter period Christmas transfers it’s worth planning in advance. The National Clearing House reminded that bank settlement systems will operate during non-standard hours at this time. People who want to be sure that the money will arrive on time should order a transfer in advance or choose an immediate transfer.

KIR notes that the Elixir system does not conduct settlement sessions on public holidays and weekends. This means that on April 6, i.e. Easter Monday, the system will not work. In practice, transfers transferred by banks to KIR on Friday, April 3, after 4.00 p.m. will be settled only during the morning session of the first business day, i.e. April 7.

Christmas transfers and the operation of the Elixir system

This is important information for people planning payments just before the holidays. If the transfer is ordered too late, the funds will not reach the recipient immediately, but only after the Christmas break in the system. That is why KIR recommends not to postpone such operations until the last minute.

The changes also apply to the Euro Elixir system, which handles transfers in euro, both domestic and to euro zone countries. In its case, the interruption will cover not only Monday, April 6, but also Friday, April 3. As explained, this is due to the fact that in many European countries Good Friday is a banking holiday.

Christmas transfers in euro will also be affected by the break

For customers making transfers in the EU currency, this means longer restrictions on standard settlements. The break in Euro Elixir will last two days, so people planning such operations should check the dates particularly carefully and not postpone orders until the last minute. Otherwise, the money may be credited later than expected.

However, KIR reminds that regardless of the operation of the Elixir and Euro Elixir systems, you can still use instant transfers made by Express Elixir. This solution allows you to transfer funds between accounts in different banks in seconds. This system operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and holidays.

Holiday transfers can also be made immediately

Thanks to this, people who cannot make a traditional transfer can still transfer money quickly. Express Elixir remains available even when standard billing systems are interrupted. This is why KIR indicates it as an alternative for those who want to make payments during the holidays.
