Bad news for Iga Świątek. There is the latest WTA ranking
The updated WTA ranking will not please Iga Światek. It clearly indicates the gap in points between our player and the current leader of women’s tennis.
After Sunday’s WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells, Iga Świątek dropped to third place in the ranking of the best players. The first position is taken by Aryna Sabalenka, who has increased the distance to the Pole. Iga, in turn, gave way to second place to the representative of Kazakhstan and is currently placed between Elena Rybakina and the American Coco Gauff.

Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus, first in the WTA ranking, currently has 11,025 points. Second Jelena Rybakina has 7,783 points, and the third Pole has 7,413 points. Coco Gauff has collected 6,748 points, while fifth place Jessica Pegula from the USA has 6,678 points. There is another American on the same level, Amanda Anisimova with 6,180 points.
Polish fans, who have become accustomed to Iga Świątek’s dominance, have recently had to recognize the superiority of the Belarusian. On Sunday, March 15, Sabalenka won the tournament in Indian Wells for the first time in her career. After the final fight with Jelena Rybakina, she has a huge advantage not only over the Pole, but also over the second-ranked competitor.
However, it must be admitted that she triumphed in beautiful style. In the tie-break of the third set, she managed to save the match ball. she ultimately won 3:6, 6:3, 7:6(6). Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Świątek, who made a lot of unforced errors in the quarterfinals and ended the match with Elina Svitolina with profanity and throwing the towel on the ground.
Tursunow: Świątek may drop out of the top five
Former Russian tennis player Dmitry Tursunov drew attention to Iga Świątek’s latest results. “Meanwhile, Rybakina is already second in the world. How many more signals does Iga, who is now tenth in the Race ranking, need?” – he asked on his Telegram profile. “It is unlikely that she will be able to get out of this hole. We are not even talking about first place. We are talking about staying in the top five,” he wrote.
