Artificial intelligence on Facebook. The new option is already available
From this week, users in Poland and 41 European countries can use the Meta AI – an innovative assistant based on artificial intelligence.
Meta, the owner of Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Whatsappa, informed about the start of the greatest global implementation of her chatbot AI. The tool will be available free of charge on popular social platforms and messengers.
Meta AI. Functions and availability in Europe
Meta AI initially operated only on selected markets, but now it goes to Europe. Chatbot will support six languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and German. Users can ask questions, explore interesting topics or seek help in everyday problems. This function will also be integrated with the search bar on platforms, which will facilitate finding the best results – from friends’ posts to video content and photos.
Regulatory problems and delays in the implementation of Meta AI
The meta AI was originally to be implemented in mid -2023. However, the decision of the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) delayed this process. The Commission expressed concerns about the training of language models for data from the European Union. Meta proposed the possibility of expressing an objection via the OPT-OUT form, but the Noyb organization criticized this solution as inconsistent with the provisions of the GDPR.
Personal data protection and the development of artificial intelligence
The finish line, despite delays, continues dialogue with European regulators. After the DPC decision, the use of data from EU user accounts for Llam models was suspended. The concern emphasizes that it respects users’ objections, ensuring that the data of persons who have objected will not be used to train artificial intelligence models.

Meta AI is not only chatbot, but a whole line of products based on advanced Llam language models. The new implementation is proof of the company’s ambitions and the desire to equalize the level of availability of services in Europe with the American market.
