Artificial intelligence in Polish hospitals. A revolution that can save thousands of patients
Anna Kowalska delayed a visit to the doctor. She has been coughing for months, but “it’s probably nothing like that,” she thought. When she finally found a low -dose computed tomography as part of a screening program, artificial intelligence immediately detected disturbing changes. The algorithm was right – it was lung cancer in the stage where it could still be cured.
Quiet entry of the revolution
Artificial intelligence in Polish hospitals is no longer a distant future. This is a reality that saves life every day. In the silence of laboratories and hospital rooms, algorithms analyze hundreds of thousands of studies, capture the details that would miss human eye, help doctors make decisions about life and death.
Studies of the E-Zdrowia Center show that artificial intelligence is used in 13.2 percent. hospitals examined. A year earlier, this percentage was 6.5 percent. This is a two -time increase in just twelve months. However, these numbers do not reflect the scale of changes that are happening before our eyes.
Ligia Kornowska, managing director of the Polish Federation of Hospital, emphasizes:
– Artificial intelligence often seems to us something distant and remaining rather at the stage of wishful thinking, in fact it can be more commonly used than we think.
Facilities providing stationary and 24 -hour services other than hospitals and outpatient health centers use artificial intelligence much less often – 3.2 percent respectively. and 4.1 percent
This shows that this technology is still the privilege of the largest medical facilities.
Wrocław phenomenon on a global scale
The Symptomate application is a Polish pearl in the world of world digital medicine. The Wrocław company Infermedica has created a tool that was the first in Poland the title of MZ certified application and was included in the health application portfolio.
Piotr Orzechowski, founder and CEO of Infermedica, does not hide his pride. – Our engine based on artificial intelligence is regularly tested, achieving an effectiveness of 94 percent. – says. He adds that doctors cooperating with the symptom carefully check the quality of information provided by the application.
