Artificial intelligence for the military. PLN 5 billion from SAFE for new technologies
This is not science fiction but reality. The military will buy supercomputers to train its own artificial intelligence. The budget for new technologies is PLN 5 billion from the SAFE loan.
It turns out that the army can no longer do without its own AI. Anyone who wants to increase their tactical advantage, automate data analysis and optimize logistics has no choice but to buy high-class computers and train their artificial intelligence as quickly as possible.
The Ministry of National Defense wants to allocate approximately PLN 5.1 billion from the SAFE loan to cybertechnologies, artificial intelligence and electronic warfare – approximately 3%. Polish pool of funds from this EU loan.
Why do the military need artificial intelligence?
Kyiv does not enter Moscow on tanks – it enters the city center with a network of drones. Ukrainians do not send their troops to destroy Russian refineries, pipelines or power plants, and they burn anyway. The face of the war suddenly changed. Suddenly, that is, since soldiers were helped by algorithms trained for this purpose.
AI allows for the integration and analysis of information from multiple sources, including electronic signals, satellites and field reports. Automatic processing of large data sets allows you to detect patterns and predict enemy movements, which gives you a strategic advantage.
Networks of algorithms process huge amounts of data from satellites, drones and sensors in real time. Thanks to this, they can automatically detect targets (e.g. enemy vehicles) and track their movements. They detect anomalies, identify cyberattacks and quickly respond to threats in cyberspace, which is key to protecting modern infrastructure.
Today, AI systems enable the development of autonomous combat platforms such as drones, land robots and marine vehicles that can perform reconnaissance, patrol and even combat missions without direct human supervision.
AI analyzes possible war scenarios, predicts enemy movements and recommends the best command options, which improves battlefield management. Additionally, it predicts the need for spare parts, fuel and ammunition by analyzing the condition of equipment and mission plans, which helps avoid downtime. The catalog of applications of algorithms in the armed forces and secret services is extremely extensive, not to say infinite.
Military AI will be top secret
The Polish Army is in the process of moving into the 22nd century, which will be financed by SAFE, i.e. low-interest loans from the European Union. The program budget is EUR 150 billion, of which Poland is to receive 29 percent. – EUR 43.7 billion, i.e. approximately PLN 185 billion.
As reported by wnp.pl, more than half of the Polish SAFE pool will be allocated to artillery systems and air defense, including anti-aircraft, anti-missile and anti-drone systems. Some of the funds will also go to new technologies – the Cyberspace Defense Forces intend to use SAFE funds to purchase and implement supercomputers for processing large data sets without using publicly available networks. The project was prepared by the Artificial Intelligence Implementation Center, part of the Cyberspace Defense Forces.
The EU loan is also to be used to purchase Edge AI devices, which ensure the operation of artificial intelligence for the end user without the need to connect to the central database or cloud computing on which a given model operates.
