Are you selling a car? These brands are going the fastest. And which ones “hang around” the longest?

Owners of Mini Coopers and Opels Grandland and Crossland can be sure that they will quickly find buyers for their cars.

According to the AAA AUTO analysis, their cars usually find buyers within a dozen or so days. The analysis was conducted based on the AAA AUTO Barometer report, based on data on used car sales in commissions, on websites and from used car dealers in the first quarter of 2024.

Fastest selling used cars

The Mini Cooper is the fastest-selling model on the secondary market in 2024, waiting an average of 13 days for a new owner. In Q1 2024, 212 such cars were put up for sale. Their median price was PLN 19,150, median age – 16 years, and median mileage – 159,000 km.

– Since these are cheap cars, one could say that today the market is shifting towards cheaper cars, but this is not the case. The second and third place in such a ranking were taken by cars with a median price of around PLN 76,000, and the median age was 5 years – says Paweł Molasy, Business Country Manager PL at AUTOCENTRUM AAA AUTO sp. zoo in an interview with MarketNews24.

The fastest selling used car, right behind the Mini, was the Opel Grandland – owners of this model waited an average of 14 days for a buyer. There were 116 such models for sale on the secondary market, and the median price was PLN 76,000, because these were generally young cars – the median age was 5 years and the median mileage was 74,000 km.

Third place went to the Opel Crossland, for which the average offer duration was 17 days.

Which cars are selling the slowest?

The analysis conducted by AAA AUTO also shows that in the first quarter of 2024, the Citroen C5X had the longest waiting time for customers – an average of 231 days. It was followed by: Ford Mustang Mach-e – 211 days, Volkswagen ID.Buzz – 179 days, Skoda Enyaq – 164 days and BMW iX – 145 days.

– Such a long waiting period for a new owner was probably due to the fact that the cars were not cheap, because their median prices oscillated around PLN 200,000, and these are electric cars – explains Paweł Molasy from AUTOCENTRUM AAA AUTO.

In April this year, buyers had 252,760 offers of cars for sale on the secondary market at their disposal. This is a very wide and diverse offer, which included both cars from the domestic market and imported. In the case of the latter, buyers should pay special attention to their quality. The negative side of imports is still the age of cars, which exceeds 10 years and the related problems with origin, mileage or serious damage. These problems make buying a car from an individual import the riskiest way for customers to buy a car.
