Are you planning to swim in the Baltic Sea? This is the water temperature you can expect

The temperature of the Baltic Sea at the beginning of the holidays is not impressive. The forecasts for the coming weeks are not optimistic either.

It seems that the long-awaited July vacations may pass for Poles in a not-so-holiday atmosphere. The water temperature in the Polish sea is definitely lower than at the end of June. There is also no sign of any noticeable improvement in the coming weeks. Vacations on the Baltic Sea are once again not only very expensive, but also not necessarily pleasant.

Cold water in the Baltic Sea in early July

This is not the start of the holiday that tourists dreamed of. Although the weather at the Polish seaside encouraged people to come to the seaside at the end of June, the first week of July brought a significant cooling in the resorts. According to the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, the water temperature in the Baltic Sea dropped below 20 degrees. During the weekend, only 17 to 19 degrees Celsius were recorded in almost all bathing areas. It is recommended that the water temperature not be lower than 18 degrees Celsius when swimming.

The forecasts are not optimistic

Just last week, when water temperatures in many resorts exceeded 23 degrees Celsius, the Baltic Sea felt almost like Majorca. Today, weather forecasts do not give hope for a significant improvement in conditions. Although on individual days we will even have heat (next Wednesday in Gdańsk we will see as much as 31 degrees Celsius on the thermometers), in general the weather will be uncertain. Towards the end of the week, rain, storms and strong winds will return to the coast.

It is no wonder that Poles are increasingly eager to go on holiday abroad. According to a survey by SW Research for Wprost.pl, only 20.8 percent of respondents are going to the Polish seaside this year. 22.1 percent of people are planning a holiday abroad, and 13.9 percent – a holiday in the Polish mountains. Only 6.6 percent declare that they will spend their holiday in Masuria this summer.
