Are you going to the mountains? One of the attractions will be closed for the entire summer

Visiting Babia Góra National Park this summer may be difficult. One of the most popular trails will undergo major renovation.
Summer is the best time to explore the Polish mountains. Unfortunately, during this period, many trails undergo renovations that must be completed before the upcoming autumn-winter season. Some works, such as the renovation of the trail to Nosal in the Tatras, can be completed in just a few days. Other facilities may be unavailable even for the entire summer. The Babia Góra National Park has just started renovation of another trail. The trail to Sokolica in the Babia Góra Massif will be closed until mid-September.
A closed trail on Babia Góra
Babia Góra (1724 m above sea level), called the “Polish Kilimanjaro”, is one of the most popular mountain attractions in our country. It is the highest peak not only in the Żywiec Beskids and the Western Beskids – apart from the Tatras, it has no equal in the whole of Poland. Like Śnieżka in the Karkonosze Mountains, it is famous for its prominence (the difference in height between a given peak and the lowest contour line surrounding it). Tourists can therefore admire a truly exceptional view of the green surroundings and low-lying clouds from here. Unfortunately, from July 15, 2024, crossing the Babia Góra Massif will be difficult. Due to renovation work, the red trail on the section Lipnicka Pass (Krowiarki Glade) – Sokolica has been closed until September 15.
Can you climb Babia Góra?
The decision to close the popular route has been met with mixed reactions. Some mountain climbing enthusiasts are not happy that such a long renovation is taking place during the holidays. Others point out that the peak season on Babia Góra lasts in spring and autumn, so the summer months are the best time to carry out the renovation. Tourists should not worry, however. Both Sokolica and Babia Góra are still possible to climb. “We will climb Sokolica by the green trail, i.e. Perć Przyrodników. We will climb the blue trail, i.e. Górny Płaj, from and to Krowiarki glade,” we read in a statement published by the park.
