Are you buying a flat? Check where it is safest in Poland

Kupujesz mieszkanie? Wschód Polski najbezpieczniejszy, a Dolny Śląsk najgorszy

Safety is increasingly important when choosing a place. Where is the safest and where is the greatest risk?

Data on the number and frequencies of crime can be an important criterion for people looking for an apartment or plot for the construction of a house. Real estate market analysts are also increasingly paying attention to them.

– The broadly understood “apartment” is connected with many other spheres of life. It is not only about obvious connections, such as those regarding, for example, relationships between the housing market and the labor market and the energy market. For people looking for a place or place for the construction of a house, sometimes less obvious aspects are important. One of them is the local level of security – notes Andrzej Prajsnar, expert of the Gethome.pl portal.

Map of housing crime

Specialists of the Gethome.pl portal prepared a map of the frequency of crimes against property, based on the CSO data. The statement shows how many such crimes – such as theft, burglaries into buildings or fraud – were found in 2024 per 1000 inhabitants of a given poviat or city with poviat rights.

The authors of the analysis emphasize that the data would be even more useful if they included individual municipalities. Despite this restriction, the map allows you to see the clear and repetitive relationships between regions.

Where is the safest?

– Generally speaking, last year’s map of the frequency of crimes against property is not a big surprise. A large regional differentiation of recorded results has long been visible. In 2024 (traditionally) three voivodships from south-eastern Poland were best: Podkarpackie, Świętokrzyskie and Lublin-says Andrzej Prajsnar.

This is good news for the inhabitants of these regions, but experts pay attention to the possible differences between official statistics and the actual number of population that can affect the final results.

Lower Silesia in the infamous lead

The Lower Silesian Voivodeship was at the opposite pole. Crime indicators against property are the highest in the country, and a particularly high level was recorded in the western part of the region. This trend has been persisted for years, which can affect both the perception of safety by residents and the decisions of people planning to buy an apartment in this part of Poland.
