Another tragedy for Hubert Hurkacz. He needed a doctor's help

Hubert Hurkacz has had some serious health problems in recent months. The Pole dropped out of the Cincinnati event, and during the meeting he needed medical help.

Hubert Hurkacz did not play at the Olympic Games in Paris due to a knee injury sustained at Wimbledon. The best Polish tennis player was supposed to take part in three events of the quadrennial event, but in the end he did not have time to recover. After the games he decided to return to the tour and played in the tournament held in Montreal. He reached the quarterfinals there – each time playing a three-set match.

Hurkacz with great pain

Hurkacz of course also entered the tournament in Cincinnati. On Sunday, his opponent was Yoshihito Nishioka. From the very beginning, the Japanese player made it difficult for the favored Pole. He presented himself brilliantly on his own serve, and also broke our player once. This made him win the set 6:3.

It was a nearly perfect set by Hurkacz’s opponent, as he recorded 17 finishing moves with only 2 unforced errors. The Polish representative also recorded 17 winners, but 9 more unforced errors than Nishioka.

The Pole quickly found himself up against the wall in terms of the score, while also struggling with pain. In the first part of the second set – at 1:2 – he decided to seek medical help. It was obvious that the player from Wrocław had problems with his back. After medical intervention, he decided to continue playing.

Hurkacz survived the storm

There was no break in the second set. During the competition, it started to rain, but the rain was not heavy and the players were able to return to the court quite quickly. There was a tie break, which Hurkacz won with a score of 7-4. He won it, which extended his chance to win this match. In the last set, the Pole was definitely better than his opponent and triumphed 6-1.
