Anita Włodarczyk opens up about her career. The Olympic champion gave a clear signal

Anita Włodarczyk

Anita Włodarczyk is certainly one of the most famous Polish sportswomen in recent years. Will the three-time Olympic champion compete at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles?

Three-time Olympic champion (London 2012, Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020), four-time world champion (Berlin 2009, Moscow 2013, Beijing 2015, London 2017) and the same number of titles in the European championships (Helsinki 2012, Zurich 2014, Amsterdam 2016, Berlin 2018). There were many, many more titles and medals in Włodarczyk’s career.

The end of Anita Włodarczyk’s career? The Polish woman provided important information

Although Włodarczyk turned 40 in August 2025, she certainly has no intention of ending her career. At least not here and now. Will Włodarczyk take part in the Olympic Games, which will be held in Los Angeles in less than three years? The hammer does not provide a guarantee here, considering that we are talking about the year 2028.

– I have no idea if I’ll make it to Los Angeles. I will make decisions from year to year. Despite my age, I don’t have any pain and that’s very nice. Next year I’m planning to take part in the European Championships in Birmingham, and we’ll see later. I haven’t trained for a month and it’s starting to wear on me. I’ll be back to training in a moment (…) I’m pleased to hear from younger players that I am an inspiration to them. Recently at a meet in Eugene, even coach Camryn Rogers himself came up to me and thanked me. He said that I was a huge role model for Camryn, especially at the beginning of her career – admitted the three-time Olympic champion in hammer throw during the “Turbokozak” Canal+ Sport program.

It is worth adding that during this year’s World Championships at an open stadium in Tokyo, Włodarczyk showed that she is still among the world’s best. The Pole took 6th place with a result of 74.64 meters.

Her best result in 2025 was a throw of 74.70 m. Out of all the domestic hammer throwers, no one in Poland threw a longer distance. Włodarczyk won the gold medal at the 2025 Polish Championships with a result of 70.66 m.
