Andrzej Wrona brutally honest in front of the camera. “I wanted to apologize to the fans”

PGE Warszawa supporters came to the capital of Lesser Poland with hopes. There is nothing to hide, it is not an easy time for the team led by coach Piotr Graban. The Warsaw residents got a strong blow in the form of a defeat in the quarter -finals of the Champions League. It seemed that in the Atlas Arena in Łódź, during the Final Four, PGE Projekt would play the role of “host”. Unfortunately, for a club from Warsaw, it ended with disappointment.

It is clear that from the moment of defeat with Halkbank Ankara – after the “Golden set” – something apparently broke in a team from Warsaw. In the context of PlusLiga PGE, the project was promoted to the semi-finals, but it was close that the quarter-final play-off series with PGE Giek Skra Bełchatów lasted not two, but three matches.

However, the Warsaw residents escaped from a few match balls for Skra and went out to enter the best four games. However, the hard landing took place in Krakow. During the Tauron semi -finals, PGE Projekt faced the Jurassic knights. Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie left no doubt who deserved a place in the final, winning very confidently in three sets.

The team from Warsaw looked as if they didn’t have enough “fire” to actually take a glove. Andrzej Wrona, the middle of the Warsaw team, spoke about it in front of Polsat’s cameras.

– It’s about how we played volleyball, it didn’t look like it should, as if we wanted it, for which I wanted to apologize to the fans (…) you can lose the match, because there are better teams, but you have to play boldly, fight for every ball. In every move you should see that we will be cut for victory. However, we have long episodes, as in today’s match, when you can’t see it. The fight for such a trophy, in such a hall should wing us, not paralyzing. The fact that we play like this means that we are not ready to fight for such trophies and compete with the best – admitted the captain of PGE Project.

Let us add that for Wrona it was the last opportunity to reach for the Polish Cup. After the end of the 2024/25 season, the world champion (2014) ends his sports career.

Interestingly, in PlusLiga in the Warsaw semi -final … they will hit Jurassic knights again. The team of coach Graban needs a quick “reset” heads. Otherwise, it is difficult to look for optimism before subsequent clashes before the speeding team of runners -up of Poland.
