An unusual attraction on the Baltic Sea returns “It was a hit on par with the pier”

Sopot residents and tourists will soon be able to take advantage of their favorite attraction. This time it’s not about the popular pier.
An unusual attraction will return to the beach in Sopot after a break of several years. The silting pipe, which transports sand extracted from the bottom of the Baltic Sea, in the past, like the Sopot pier, served as a meeting place for residents and tourists. As reported by esopot.pl, the unexpected element of the seaside landscape will be fully present on the beach from October 20 and will remain there for about three months.
A pipe instead of a bench on the beach
The “bench” with a sea view on the Sopot beach has been very popular in recent years. However, this is not a classic park bench, but a pipe installed on the beach during silting works. The unusual object quickly became a part of the beach landscape and convinced the residents, who eagerly arranged meetings here or sat down during a walk. Now the several hundred meters long structure will once again please its admirers. On Wednesday, October 16, the first elements of the pipeline appeared on the beach next to the pier. Next Sunday, the pipe is to be ready to transport sand located at the bottom of the Baltic Sea and will remain there at least until December.
This attraction is a real hit
Although it will be available after the high holiday season, the large pipe will certainly please residents and a large group of visitors. This is not the only completely free attraction that can be used on the Baltic Sea in winter. From October 1 to April 10, 2025, entry to the above-mentioned Sopot pier is also free of charge, and during the holiday season a fee of PLN 10 per adult is charged. This is an annual tradition of the popular resort, which responds to the decreased interest in trips to the seaside. The pier is known for strong winds, which can be especially unpleasant in autumn and winter. However, if there is no wind, a walk on the pier and admiring the views from the new “bench” may be the best way to spend the weekend.
