An undiscovered gem of Europe. It’s not without reason that movie hits were made here

Zamek Pruhonice

This beautiful palace with a pearl of garden architecture will allow you to escape from the hustle and bustle of the European capital. It delights with its wonderful nature and it is not without reason that it appeared on cinema screens.

The capital of the Czech Republic is always a good choice for a short trip, but there are more interesting places to discover nearby.

Palace near Prague

One of them is the Průhonice castle and the adjacent park, which are located only 15 km from Prague. At first glance, it looks like a French monument. The Neo-Renaissance palace is partially open to visitors, and weddings are organized in the Knight’s Hall. The building is surrounded by one of the largest landscape parks in Europe with an area of 240 hectares, located in the varied terrain of the valley of a meandering small river.

It is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, both for residents and tourists. It is also a great destination for a journey following Czech film hits.

In the 20th century, filmmakers fell in love with the palace. Tvguru.cz informs that it was the background for scenes from Czech films such as “The Princess with a Golden Star” from 1959, “Long Live the Ghosts” or “No Joking with Devils” from the 1980s, which has cult status. Scenes for the series for children and teenagers “Arabela” broadcast by Polish television in the 1980s were also shot here. In the area you can walk along the same paths that the movie princesses walked or relax on a bench and recall the adventures of the characters.

Beautiful park for a trip in the Czech Republic

It is worth planning a trip to the castle at the end of May, when the rhododendrons are in bloom. However, you can come here at any time of the year. In addition to its artistic and historical value, the park is also a dendrological pearl, with approximately 1,600 species of trees.

In recent years, the park has also become a place of refuge for numerous species of plants and animals. Visit Czechia informs that valuable forest and meadow biocenoses have been preserved in its area.

In 2010, Průhonický Park and its plant collections were added to the UNESCO list of the historic center of Prague.
