An extremely rare predator returned to Poland after years. The State Forests issued a message

Sokół wędrowny (Falco peregrinus)

On Monday, June 23, the Maskulińskie Forest District announced the tracking of the nest of the Wandering Falcon in its area. The State Forests emphasize that this is a “extremely rare species.”

The employees of the Falco Peregrinus (Falco Peregrinus) were informed about finding the first nest of the Maskulińskie Forest District. It is an unit based in Rucian-Nida in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It is within its reach of the following communes: Pisz, Mrągowo, Mikołajki, Ruciane, Orzysz, Piecki and the municipalities of Mikołajki and Ruciane-Nida.

After years, the nest of the migratory falcon was found in Poland

It was in this area that the old Raven socket was found, in which the eggs laid the wandering falcons. It is known that two young people have already been. “Finding a nest is the result of a long -lasting, very successful cooperation with members of the Eagle Protection Committee,” it was emphasized in the statement of the State Forests.

“This extremely rare breeding bird, after many years of absence, returns to the environment very slowly. However, the Polish Raironian population is still a great rarity. The more is all the more glad that we can boast of our own district” – added employees of the Forest District.

“Our flesh colleague during the work of a falcon eye spotted in the flight of a bird of the Falconidae family. The sounds pointed to the traveling falcon! Verification of the recorded sound material and the photos taken confirmed this thesis,” they reported.

The help of ornithologists from the Eagle Protection Committee was that they combed the district and spotted the nest. “Congratulations and thank you (ornithologists and falcons). The preliminary protection plan has already been developed. We will do everything in our power and we will keep our fingers crossed so that Sokół is permanently with us” – assured foresters.

Wandering Falcon in Poland

Even at the beginning of the 20th century, the traveling Falcon inhabited all of Poland. The population of these birds, however, decreased rapidly around 1950. Since then, they were observed sporadically, so work was undertaken to rebuild this species in our country. Institutions supervised by the Ministry of Climate and Environment were involved in these activities.
