An elusive carp with the nickname “Marchewa” finally caught. Who won the prize?
The angler from Suffolk in the east of England won a considerable reward for catching an orange-gold carp. In the area, this fish has been hunted for a long time.
26-year-old Nathan Riggey with Walsham Le Wills near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk did a real feat and caught fishing fishing since 2023. He received a prize of 3,000 for catching the Golden Carp. pounds, i.e. about 15,000 zloty.

As he admitted, while fishing in Suffolk Water Park near Clydon regularly saw a great orange fish, known among local anglers as “Marchewa”. Patience paid off to the 26-year-old last week. As he admitted, pulling ashore the fish weighing 12.2 kg was “a struggling experience.”
“I saw this fish all day and I was still thinking that I had one more chance to catch it,” he explained. – In the evening I spread my rods, sat on a bucket as usual and started eating porridge. Along with half an hour, the rod on my right twitched – he said.

Locals are convinced that this particular carp has been seen in the local lake for over 30 years. It has become a tradition that they organize plants and create pools of money for those who catch a specific large specimen. The “carrots” collected 3,000 pounds. Nathan Riggey plans to spend this sum on his family’s holiday trip.
